1. Describe the stasis in the play: where, when, who, what, etc. in a paragraph.

This play revolves around a main character named Lil'Bit. She is an attractive young lady who experiences sexual harassment by men in her early life, her uncle being the most notable. The play begins in 1969 in the rural parts of MaryLand. Lil'Bit eventually ends up failing out of classes as she can no longer focus due to the triumphs she experienced from her uncle and she tries to hold onto one of the best things she has in life, which is the abaility to know how to drive.

2. What is the intrusion?

The intrusion is when the driving lessons between Uncle Peck and Lil'Bit begin.

3. What is the unique factor?

This is the day that the narrator told the audience her story by giving it in relation to the driving lessons that Uncle Peck gave her.

4. What is the dramatic question that should be answered by the end of the play?

Will her uncle back off of her?
Will she ever find peace by the end of the play?

5. Provide an illustration of the two kinds of exposition that the play has in it.

One exposition is that in which she tells the audience the sexual nicknames that are given to each family member. Another form of exposition is where the uncle makes a joke about her breast size which makes Lil'Bit uncomfortable.

6. Identify the most theatrical moment in the play and of what importance it seems to be.

I think the most theatrical moment of the play is when the Uncle proposes to Lil'Bit.

7. List some of the themes of the play.

-Sexual Harassment
-Molestation
-Education
-Alcoholism

8. Choose the character of Li'l Bit in the show and articulate what she wants and what are some obstacles that stand in the way of her getting what she wants?

She wishes to have a successful life, one in which she is educated and doesn't have to live a life of worry for sexual harassment or being taken advantage of. Her uncle is the main obstacle to this goal as she blames him for being the reason she isn't in college anymore as his involvement in her early life really messed her up.

9. Describe some possible images in the play and how does the title help us understand the play.

The play was interesting in how they use the title "How I learned to drive" in connection with sexual assault as learning how to drive is one of the first things that a kid looks forward to and in this case, it is the opposite.

10. Briefly define the family relationships that are examined in the play.

The family of Lil'Bit chooses their nicknames based off of genitalia. Lil'Bit has a mother who is an alcoholic and not exactly the best advice giver. Her grandmother wants her to remain a kid and to not have to deal with real world issues such as sex yet. Her uncle seems to be a sexual predator.
